After suffering a concussion during the AFC Championship game, Tight end Rob Gronkowski was questionable for Super Bowl. It has just been announced that he was cleared from concussion protocol and will be playing in Super Bowl LII on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
When asked on Tuesday if he was expecting to play, the tight end immediately said “yes”, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Gronkowski addressed the media Thursday afternoon.
“I would say (trainers) were more on the cautious side,” Gronkowski said, according to USA Today. “Got the word today that we were cleared, so I’m ready to roll. … I’m a full go.”
Serving as one of quarterback Tom Brady’s top targets, Gronkowski caught 69 passes for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns in the regular season. He was limited on Wednesday, but able to complete a full practice on Thursday, confirming his readiness for game day.
